Natural Stones: Amber

The bloggers of Duarte www.tiendasduarte.com want to show you some aspects related to amber.

Amber is considered a semiprecious stone, however in reality, it is not a stone because it has an organic origin. Amber is a fossilized resin of vegetable origin from remains of conifers and some varieties of angiosperms. Its name comes from Arabic and means what floats in the sea.

As it comes from different varieties of trees, its composition is not always the same. As for the shade of amber, the best known are yellow and orange but there are also white, blue-green, black and even red tones.

There is a legend that all amber that does not have insects inside is not authentic, however, it is a legend that has no foundation; when the resin slips on the bark of the trunks and branches of the trees can catch different insects, air bubbles, water droplets, dust or simply can not drag any of them, so the pieces that do not contain impurities are also authentic .

The oldest piece of amber found by man was found in Germany more than 30,000 years ago; however in the Baltic Sea it is where amber is found and it is considered the best quality. There are other areas where you can find amber such as France, Lithuania, Mexico, Nicaragua, Colombia etc. In Spain it has also been found in the cave of Altamira.

Amber has been highly valued throughout history, and is one of the oldest materials used by men to make jewelry and amulets. Our ancestors attributed to it magical and healing properties for what was used in talismans and in medicinal remedies. In many countries it was used, and is still used today, to protect children from the evil eye. For many it was considered one of the sacred stones, so amber became one of the most appreciated stones by our ancestors.

Currently, amber jewelry is still used as amulets because, in theory, these stones transmit the joy, energy and vitality of the sun, eliminating stress and strengthening our body and mind. Many businessmen carry amber with them to improve their intellect, overcome their shyness and attract good economic results. In addition, as was believed in antiquity, women who wear amber jewelry are more likely to attract love.

As we always tell you in our blog, believe or not, in properties that may have natural stones, in www.tiendasduarte.com you can acquire a jewel with amber stone, because if you are a believer you will have multiple spiritual benefits , and in case you are not, jewels with amber are valuable pieces that you can wear at any time. ;) .
